Hola amigos. If you're wondering why I don't post as much as I used to is because my days really don't have much variety in them. I pretty much just wake up around 8:30, do school work from 9-4ish, exercise for about 30 min, make dinner, and then watch ER reruns or whatever show is on, and hang out with Craig. Oh maybe that's what I can talk about..my view on shows this season. But first, an update for you: health journey is going well, I am down 17.5 lbs from where I started a month ago. My goal is to continue at the rate of 2 lbs per week until I reach a healthy weight for my height. Slow and steady wins the race... and keeps the pounds off.
So... a few weeks back I talked about the shows I was going to follow this season. Well, my priorities have been compromised due to a growing obsession with past seasons of ER. You see, I've always loved ER and have been watching on and off for years upon years (it's in its 14th season), but ever since I got season 4 for Christmas last year, I have been completely addicted in downloading and watching every epi since then. I just finished season 9 a few nights ago and I am SO SAD that Abby and Carter don't stay together... but I knew they were doomed from the start, being that in the current season she is married to Luka.. but whatever... anyway, all that to say that most nights I don't feel like watching anything but ER, so I haven't given some of the new shows as much of a chance as I would have.
Grey's Anatomy: definitely funnier than the last half of last season, which I appreciate. I enjoy watching but am not a fan of all the new interns... I miss Addison there though, she should've stayed. Oh and the George/Izzy thing irritated me to no end. I'm happy about the turn of events with it though and hope that George and Callie work it out. ER: As I mentioned earlier, it is in it's 14th (and rumored final) season and doing pretty well. Unfortunately Luka and Abby are on their way out now, which is sad, but if it ends then it wont matter. Since I'm so engrossed in what's happening in past seasons, I can hardly pay attention to what's going on, except that I enjoy watching.
Private Practice: I'm really curious to hear people's thoughts on this show. I have been watching since the first epi, but last week I just couldn't be bothered. Is it just me, or do they keep ending up at the hospital? Wasn't the point of this show to be different than Grey's? I like the cast, especially Amy Brenneman, but the show is just not catching me. I'll be a casual watcher, at best.
Dirty Sexy Money: I watched the first 3 epi's, and really liked it, but decided to let it go a few weeks ago due to the fact that I really just wanted to watch ER. Pushing Daisies: Super cute show..is anyone watching this? It's really funny and well written. Unfortunately it's on at the same time as my Spanish class so I only see the last half each week.. but I think I might tape them because they are really good. I didn't start off with this show, but my parents did and got me into it. Law and Order SVU: I don't think I'll ever be able to give up this show, even though I can feel the writers running out of story lines. My guess is that it will last only 1 or 2 more seasons, but it won't be the end for Mariska Hargitay. She's generated a huge fan base and will probably do more films after SVU. Regarding this season, it's been pretty good, slightly predictable, but better than last season.
Okay that's it for my reviews. Let me know if you have any thoughts or if you've gotten into any new shows I didn't mention!
It's been a little while since I've posted, but really it's because I don't have a ton to say. My life is pretty routine now, which involves school from 9am-4pm, maybe going for a little bike ride, doing the dishes, making dinner, watching ER. Yes I've been watching the early seasons of ER and I am soo loving it. I started with season 4 last year because Mariska Hargitay was in it, but then I've just kept going and now I'm on season 7. It brings back memories because I was watching these seasons when they were on about 7 years ago.
Speaking of TV (one of my favorite things to speak about...) next week is one of the greatest weeks of the year - Premiere week!!! I seriously cannot wait.. I'm going to stick with a few of the old shows, like: Grey's Anatomy (of course... supposedly it's going to be a much 'happier' season this year) ER (This is going to be it's last season...so sad...but they're bringing back all the old stars like Carter and Doug and Carol etc) Brothers and Sisters (Congrats Sally Field for winning best actress, even though you did beat Mariska..) Law and Order:SVU (This season will hopefully be better than the last, the season premiere looks really good..it's about multiple personality disorder!) And for new shows this year I am going to give Private Practice a try, not only does it have Kate Walsh (from Grey's) but Amy Brenneman, whom I totally love from Judging Amy.
So everybody, make sure your tuning in because if you miss the first week you'll be totally out of the loop. Give a new show a try!
The past week has been full of season finales of all my shows. It's been a great season for me this year... a few new shows, a few of the same ol', and a few dropped.
Firstly, the ones that have remained strong: Law and Order: SVU, America's Next Top Model, 24 Second, the new ones: Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters Ones that I dropped this year: American Idol, ER (though I caught about half the season, I wasn't able to keep up this year)
Here are my reviews of the finales:
Grey's Anatomy (SPOILER, don't read if you didn't see it) Dang...talk about ripping our hearts out this season! My goodness... I seriously think ShondaRhimes has issues with happy couples..maybe she got really hurt or doesn't believe in marriage or something..either way, this season she successfully hooked everyone up with someone, only to have each one fall apart in the finale. Not too impressed with how she left things, though I was extremely impressed with Sandra Oh's performance! Amazing...
24 This season was a bit rocky and dramatic, though I am actually pleased with the finale. Jack has decided to disappear once more, so that will be interesting to see where he pops back up again in season 7. There were a few things left unfinished for me though, especially with the death of former Pres. Logan..I mean, if Bill Clinton were killed, I think the world would be talking about it. Logan's death was not brought up once after he was killed, and I was disappointed with that. All in all, pretty good... I was surprised with where they left Audrey. But I'm glad she and Jack didn't walk off into the sunset...that would've been too much.
Brothers and Sisters So far, my favorite finale. Not sure of anyone else in the world besides Craig and I that actually watch this show, but it has continuously been good TV. Not overly dramatic, or boring - it's been very real, actually. I really like it. The youngest son has just been shipped off to war though, so not sure if that means he's off the show next year, or what..?
America's Next Top Model I'm a farely new watcher of this show..last season was my first. It is quite addicting, really. Not much to say except that I don't think Natasha the Russianshould've made it that far at all...and I think out of the final 3, Renee' should've won. Oh well.
Lastly, SVU. Hasn't happened yet, but it's tomorrow night, so I'll let you know then.
For Christmas, Craig and I got money to buy camping stuff from his parents so tonight we went on a camping shopping spree! It was great... Craig found this tent at Sportsjunkies for nearly half of what you would pay at MEC, and it was brand new! Here's some pics from testing it out in our living room ;)
We are thinking of taking it out into the real world this weekend... I'm scared of bears though. I tried to get Craig to let me buy "Bear Bells" at Canadian Tire but he said no...hmmm...... Well I wasn't going to talk about what I thought of Grey's last week, but due to popular demand, haha, I'll give you a lil' snippet.
I was dissapointed at the lack of actual grey's characters.. when you add it all up, it was maybe 25 minutes. The rest was just trying to hook us into Addison's new show. I didn't like that.. they advertised this big "2 HOUR GREY'S" special and really it was just the pilot for the new show... hmm... But all that said, if they do make a spin off, I would most likely watch it. I like the cast they got. I'm curious to know what others think. Let me know!
I've been playing around with a photo editing program I downloaded, called PAINT.net. It's easy and you can do cool stuff..hence the changes in my blog header. I've just been playing around with it lately, trying to find something cool. It's based off of the regular PAINT that comes with windows. If you're looking for an easy photo editing program that's free, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, not much to report. Has anyone ever heard of the band "Butterfly Boucher"? I haven't but their song, "A bitter Song" was featured on Grey's the other week and I can't seem to get it out of my head. Here, listen.. you'll like... and you can watch Meredith die to it :)
She's alive! Meredith's alive! Ahhhh I tell you, Shonda seriously is the best writer and TV show inventor in the whole wide world.. I was seriously split on whether or not they were going to off Meredith... Seriously... If anyone was going to kill their main character it would be Shonda... She doesn't play by the rules.
So maybe you aren't into Grey's Anatomy, and that's okay. But maybe just maybe you heard through the grape vine that Meredith Grey drowned last week. And maybe you had a tiny interest whether or not tonight Grey's fans would be rejoicing, or kicking a whole through their TV.. and I am so happy to say that I am not kicking a whole through my TV. So so happy... So humour me and keep reading. You never know, you may find yourself tuning in next week ;)
Here's the run down:
- There was a big Ferry accident and all the interns went to help. Meredith tried to help a guy and he knocked her over the side of the ferry. Then she drowned. Not because she can't swim, but because she's sad and she gave up.
- After she died, she went into this sort of life/death limbo, where all these people were there that died earlier in the season, or previous seasons. It was pretty neat... there was the blown up bomb guy, the girl who was skewerd by a pole, Mer's dog Doc, and of course Denny... ahh Denny, so good to see him.. (he died in the finale last year)
-Then, throughout the whole episode, Denny tried to get her to admit that she gave up, and that she didn't value her life. He also told her that Derek (Mcdreamy) and Cristina (her person..) need her to not give up.. meanwhile, you see the cheif, Baily, Burke, etc working on trying to revive her...trying everything..and starting to give up
-THEN it gets even more interesting. Meredith's mom, who used to be a famous doctor but now has alzheimer's and is in the hospital, goes into cardiac arrest or something. And you totally know it's going to happen...but it's still so great when it does - Meredith and her mom (Ellis) meet in death/life limbo...and Ellis FINALLY tells her that she's not ordinary..this is so huge. And you just know - you know at that moment, that Meredith will live. And unfortunately, Ellis will not.
- And finally, with about 7 minutes left, Meredith's heart starts beating again. And she wakes up, slowly. And Cristina is with her when she wakes up (her best friend). And it's so good and happy and sad. And again, my eyes are puffy.
Sorry for the lack of posting.. although I'm not nearly as bad as some of the stagnant blogs in blogland, it was still a bit too long for me to go without posting.
Tonight Craig and I are skipping our home-group. Partly because Craig spent half the night studying for his midterm he had this morning, and partly because our once small group has now turned into about 15-18 people.. not so small anymore. I sort of hinted that it was time to split up last week, but I don't know how serioulsy I was taken. Oh well.. I figure as long as we do some sort of church activity a week then it's okay. Or every other week..that's okay too. After that I start to feel guilty, but not in like a bad guilty way, just in a 'we should go to church' way. Yeah, anyway...
So Grey's is tomorrow.. But I wont talk about that. I am still trying not to make all my posts about TV.. Oh I can say happy birthday to Henri. It's her b-day today, woo hoo! Here's some pics from a great dinner we had last night. One of the best parts of the evening was when Randy told Henri that he had brought her back 24 cans of Baked Beans from England.. Seriously? Seriously.....
Still no word from Niagara University, but I guess that's to be expected..it will probably be a few weeks before I hear anything. It's funny though because even though I know that, I still check the mail in hopes of seeing something from them. Silly me...
okay does anybody else feel like your heart was ripped out of your chest last night? She can't be dead.. she just can't be! She's not, right????? RIGHT????????????
I didn't think so until i read Shonda's blog, the grey's creator and writer. read it here.. do it.. and now I can't tell! And my eyes are puffy.
Welcome to my 200th post! And I have blogworthy news...
Craig got accepted into the Sports Management Program at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario! Yay!! It's crazy because he really did not think he'd get into it.. but I am so excited for him. It's almost too perfect of a major for him! If you are interested in what kinds of jobs you get with this degree, or more information about the program, click here.
In other news, all I can say is, oh my gosh did you see grey's last night????
It was one of the biggest cliff-hangers I think I've ever seen. Seriously, if you are not watching that show, you really need to be. It's not winning like every award for no reason people! It is top quality drama!
Okay, that's all for now. Thanks for reading. Peace
Good morning all! (it's 7:30 am) I only have a few minutes but I thought I'd post something as I've been sorta slack this past week. In all honesty, I have been a bit busy, and usually in order to post something I need time to sit and think about what I want to say, which I don't actually have time to do now.. So here's some interesting facts about me in the past week:
1. On Sunday, we went to Maple Ridge to visit Craig's cousins (it's fun having 'family' here, and they do really feel like family)
2. My parents are in Ixtapa, Mexico, at an all-inclusive resort type thing. This is their first time at something like this, so I hope they are having a blast!!
3. I was torn this weekend while watching the SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) Awards because both Mariska Hargitay and Chandra Wilson (Dr. Bailey from Grey's Anatomy) were up for best actress in a drama series, and Chondra won. I didn't know how to feel... on one hand, I am so happy for her but I mean - it's Mariska - we go way back.. So, I'm still torn. 4. Grey's did win best cast though, which made me happy. They beat the cast of 24 but that's okay because that cast keeps changing year to year and I don't like this year's cast as much.
Last night Craig and I saw Apocalypto.. holy crap... it was a very intense movie! I went from loving it, to hating it, to loving it throughout the whole show. It's a little gory - but the story is great and the effects/design/filming etc is phenominal! Seriously.. I do recommend it. See the preview here.
And also, for my Grey's fan friends, I am finished with season one, and about 3 episodes into season 2... ahhh i love this show! New episode on January 11th - see the preview here.
AND last but not least, new SVU tonight.. finally! Reviews coming ;)
UPDATE: did anyone happen to see Oprah today? Wow it was powerful and I pretty much cried through the whole thing! Read about it here.
