Today I went on a bike ride and man am I outta shape! Plus I haven't ridden a bike in like 5 years so it's taking some time to get used to it again...it's my bike from when I was in high school. Well, I hardly even rode then - more like middle school..before I could drive. It's fun to be back on but now it's for exercise instead of a means of transportation, so it's not quite as fun as it used to be.

Not much else is going on..my days are pretty dull at the moment. Craig's job is going okay, but I don't think he likes it too much. Hopefully he'll get more deliveries once all the students come, which is in the next few days. I'll leave you with a picture of our new duvet cover. It was my birthday present from Craig's mom - nice huh?

    Fishing (lack of)
Sorry for lack of posting but for some reason this past week I wasn't able to post pictures on blogger..anyone else having that problem?

I went fishing the other night for the first time in years. Probably 10 or so. Didn't catch anything but it was fun just hanging with Craig on this cute little dock by our house. I got one bite about 2 minutes before we were leaving, but I lost it. Better luck next time! (we're working on finding free entertainment these days ;)

Also, last night we went to Craig's parents for a birthday dinner for his mom (happy birthday Susan!) and in the car on the way home, we were talking about how happy we are to be so close to our families. We are able to pop over for dinner at the Church's (hour and 15 min away) and my parents are talking about 'coming up for the weekend' in October! Oh yeah and my dad is coming up on the 4th of Sept for business and is going to take us out to dinner. How fun...!

Check out my friend Wade's cooking blog, he featured Craig and I! He has amazing recipes on there - www.diygourmet.ca/

    New Job
Craig's working his second 9 hr shift (5pm-2am!) tonight at "HD Pizza", a little shop just about a block and a half away. He's the delivery guy there now ;) Yay for income!

He also made his first batch of beer today since Vancouver. He's been on the phone a lot lately trying to find a good homebrew supply store. He finally found one yesterday in Hamilton, about an hour away. They seem to not be as in to homebrewing beer here, it's more wine making that is popular.

Not much else to report... days pass by pretty uneventfully at the moment, though I'm sure that will all change as soon as school starts. I've got about half my school books and will get the rest in about a week. It's still weird to think that soon I am going to be having homework again and writing papers. Blah Blah Blah....

    Summer Reading

Greetings earthlings. Not much to report, so I thought I'd talk about books I've been reading. Most recently, I finished "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult. Excellent book I must say. It's about a 13 year old girl who sues her parents for "medical emancipation", because she was born to be a perfect genetic donor for her older sister who is dying of Leukemia. After years of donation everything from chord-blood to bone marrow, she finally draws the line right before she is about to be made to donate her kidney. It's soo good with a great twist at the end. Totally recommend it.

Second, is the final Harry Potter book. I loved this book sooo much. JK Rowling did an excellent job of tying up nearly all of the loose ends. ******total spoiler so don't read this if you don't want to know**********I knew H was a horcrux!!!! I think his scar should've disappeared though after V was gone...that would've been a cool touch! And I'm glad about Snape... I knew that too, but not quite to that extent!**********************

Anyway, so the next book I'm just
starting is called "A Complicated Kindness", by Miriam Toews. Jessi gave this one to me for my b-day. Here's a quote about it, "A 16-year-old rebels against the conventions of her strict Mennonite community and tries to come to terms with the collapse of her family in this insightful, irreverent coming-of-age novel" So that sounds pretty good! Would love to hear about other good books people are reading..I'm on a good streak so far this summer!

    Back for real
Just got back late last night from a cottage up north with Craig's family. It was nice as I was able to read a lot, but unfortunately the weather wasn't the greatest for sitting on the beach...really windy and chilly at night. But it's always good to spend a week out side of tv, internet, etc and take in nature. And especially because it allowed me a chance to finish the final installment of Harry Potter! More on that later...

So here are a few photos from when my family came the week before, to go to the falls and help bring some more of our stuff for our house. We had such a great time - not only was it my parents and brother, but my Aunt, Uncle, and a few cousins came too! Very fun.... did all the touristy stuff, which was good since it's not boring for Craig and I yet and helped us get to know the area. Weather was hot but good, and we got soaked on the maid of the mist (first picture, what looks like a little boat but really there were hundreds of us on it!).

Now we have about 2 weeks of downtime before school starts for Craig and I. I ordered all my textbooks (yikes!!) and am looking forward to getting them. I'm a little nervous, but it's still a few weeks away so not too nervous... Still getting to know the area. Don't have to pull the phone book map out quite as much as in the first week! It's weird that we don't know a soul here though.... I'm hoping to find a church in the next couple weeks. I imagine that will be a good place to find friends (I hope!).

Well that's all for now, more later.
    peace

    The past 2 weeks
My family left this morning, which was very sad..but we had a great week. Lots of Falls and food and touristy stuff and games and food ;). Wish they could stay longer!

We're getting more used to the new home, it's starting to look pretty good and feel comfortable. Overall it's a bit bigger than our old house in the 'couve but there is less storage/closet/Cubbard space which has been interesting.... Here are some pics from the house:
We had a great time at the falls, and hanging out at a condo there where everyone stayed. I've got tons of great pics, but because blogger sucks, I'll have to post them when we get back...which leads me to my next point. We're leaving this afternoon for a cottage 3 hours north with Craig's family. So once again I will be out of touch for a week with no blog or email, but after that I'll be back and you'll be hearing from me and I'll post a billion photos...

OKay hope all is well out there in blog land! Can't wait to have time to catch up..miss everyone whose not within a 6 hour drive from me...wait, that's everyone! :)
    peace,
    jamie
