Good morning all! (it's 7:30 am) I only have a few minutes but I thought I'd post something as I've been sorta slack this past week. In all honesty, I have been a bit busy, and usually in order to post something I need time to sit and think about what I want to say, which I don't actually have time to do now.. So here's some interesting facts about me in the past week:
1. On Sunday, we went to Maple Ridge to visit Craig's cousins (it's fun having 'family' here, and they do really feel like family)
2. My parents are in Ixtapa, Mexico, at an all-inclusive resort type thing. This is their first time at something like this, so I hope they are having a blast!!
3. I was torn this weekend while watching the SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) Awards because both Mariska Hargitay and Chandra Wilson (Dr. Bailey from Grey's Anatomy) were up for best actress in a drama series, and Chondra won. I didn't know how to feel... on one hand, I am so happy for her but I mean - it's Mariska - we go way back.. So, I'm still torn. 4. Grey's did win best cast though, which made me happy. They beat the cast of 24 but that's okay because that cast keeps changing year to year and I don't like this year's cast as much.
Fox has issued a subpoena to Youtube, demanding that they give up the user information for the person who posted the 24 premeirs before they actually aired.. It's kind of funny actually, because it's probably some 15 year old kid who never even considered the fact that he'd get caught, or that it was even illegal for that matter. Well, sucks to be him, that's for sure... If you want more details you can read the short article here.
In other news, Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni signed on for another 2 seasons of SVU, making Mariska one of the top paid female TV stars with an average of $300,000 per episode.. Wow. Go here.
In other non TV related news, I finished my student aid application and sent it off. Now all I am waiting for is one more reference, and my university application will be complete as well. Weird - it sort of doesn't feel real! That's all for now, peace
The past few nights, by brain has been occupied by doing my taxes (i am soo on the ball..) and filling out university and financial aid (hence doing taxes) applications.. man it's hard work! Hopefully it will all pay off in the Fall.. it better...
Anyway, I wrote 2 essays tonight regarding why Niagara University should accept me as a student. 5 years writing newsletters and you know how to make youself look good :)
just kidding.. my supporters might be reading! haha.. So yeah, that's it. Wow I don't really have much to say. I guess that reminds me of something...sometimes I feel like I talk too much. Can anyone relate to this? Like I have days where I seriously have a hard time not saying everything that comes across my mind, whether it's a happy and fun thought, or a cynical or even judgemental thought. It's weird..like sometimes after I say something, I am like 'why did I just say that? It wasn't important, it didn't need to be said'. I'm not even talking about just negative stuff - just normal every day things, like commenting on every peice of mail that I open at work... I say things like "oh this is a pretty cheque", and "hey look, this person only used a .50 stamp and it still came through!" Why do I say it? I have no idea.. who really cares? It's really not that interesting. But something in me just feels like I have to say it.
But not always..cause then I have days where I really don't want to say a word or talk to anybody. I just want to think. Weird.. well anyway, that's all I have to say about that. peace
Tonight I hosted a welcome back/goodbye Lindsey party, and I think it really went great. Lindsey and I go way back (she was on my DTS) and she is just passing through Vancouver on her way to the Phillipines to be a midwife. It was so great to see her again, and hang out with a bunch of the 'old crowd'. We played catch phrase and ate chocolate fondue with lots of yummy things to dip in it. Henri, who came over to help before the party, and I had a bit of a fiasco with one of the fondues, but a quick trip to the store, a little help from my mom (over the phone), and a half carton of heavy cream, and we were rolling!!! mmmm...so yummy... Here's a bunch of pics. I'll post video clips tomorrow.

So last night I went with my friend Pam, to go see Loren Cunningham speak in Fort Langley, and to help sell books. Now for those of you who don't know, Loren Cunningham is sort of a YWAM celebrity. He is the founder of our mission, and also I believe the only man in the world who's been to every country (I've heard he's in the Guinness book of world records, though I can't confirm this personally).
So anyway, I brought my camera, hoping to snap a few shots of him while he was speaking. And when we walked in, I was amazed to find that the church was soo tiny.. and there weren't even very many people coming. Then Loren walked in, and I felt nervous.... it was weird - like, this guy I've heard about for 5 years, and read his books, here he is standing 3 feet away from me. Then he introduced himself and shook my hand.. crazy :)
He spoke on faith and finances, which was really great to hear, and at the end when we were all selling books, he was sitting behind the book table with us, signing his books for people. After most people were cleared out, I got up the guts to ask him for a picture, which he gladly obliged. So cool...and I thought to myself, 'What a great night...! I'm so glad I came'
THEN... Don asked me and Pam if we'd take Loren to where he was staying! No Way! So while in the car with the big C, I text Craig and said "I'm in a car with Loren Cunningham".... he laughed.
What a great night :) Here's some pics and video clip of him speaking
Tonight, in what normally takes me 15 minutes, took me over an hour to get from work to my home. It was by far the worst blizzard I have ever seen in Vancouver! Man this winter totally sucks and I am sooo over it!
I know, I know. You are probably getting sick of me posting pictures of snow.. I mean come on, it's like a normal part of 90% of this continent's winters. But still...it just seems blogworthy for Vancouver.
Lately I have been slowly going through old journals, as I've mentioned before, and it's bringing back all sorts of memories. It makes me think though, at the time I thought high school was so lame. But now as an adult, I sometimes miss the oportunities it gave me. For example, every year I was able to participate in a state wide choral competition where I performed solos, duets, and all sorts of ensembles. I also was able to act in about 6 plays, sometimes playing a small part, and even playing one of the leads in Rumplestiltskin. And in one of my favorite and most interesting classes, AP Biology, I was able to disect a whole cat and study the systems and organs of the body.
In all honesty though I wouldn't go back and relive high school. But I do miss those types of things. I suppose some of them I could still pursue, though it would not be the same. I have no intentions of pursuing choral competitions and acting as a career, which makes it harder to find ways to still be involved.
Here's some pics.

Today we had a spa birthday party for my friend Angela. It was really nice, we all went to this little 'cottage' (right off commercial drive) owned by Flaming June Day Spa, and had manicures and pedicures. The cottage was set up to make you feel relaxed, by nice calming paintings on the wall, good smelling candles, and soft music. We could bring our own food and drinks (which we did ;) and just hung out in our pj's all afternoon. It was really a good idea for a party! Here's some pics.

Getting a Pedicure The room (and yes, that is Wade, but he didn't stay long. Just wanted to bring Sophia by) Here's Ange with her pretty new Pajamas! Happy Birthday!
It snowed again! Actually, it's more like slush.... and although it's a pain and wet and sloppy, I much prefer it to the frozen version, since i have to drive around now and it's not as slippery. All i can say is, yes I know I am from Wisconsin and should be used to it and all, but I just really don't like winter weather. At all. I am ready for it to be done. Here's a pic of our deck to give you a visual...
Anyway, not much has been going on. Just work, watch TV, go grocery shopping, eat, surf the net, sleep. That's pretty much it. Sometimes I get bored though, I miss the days where i hung out with a bunch of my girlfriends and ate and watched our shows and talked. I miss those times a lot actually.
I'm in need of a good book to read. After I finished my last one, "Whitehorn Woods" by Maeve Binchy, I haven't picked anything else up. I need a good fiction.. like can't put it down, pretend you are in it's world all day type fiction. Anyone have any ideas?
Last night Craig and I saw Apocalypto.. holy crap... it was a very intense movie! I went from loving it, to hating it, to loving it throughout the whole show. It's a little gory - but the story is great and the effects/design/filming etc is phenominal! Seriously.. I do recommend it. See the preview here.
And also, for my Grey's fan friends, I am finished with season one, and about 3 episodes into season 2... ahhh i love this show! New episode on January 11th - see the preview here.
AND last but not least, new SVU tonight.. finally! Reviews coming ;)
UPDATE: did anyone happen to see Oprah today? Wow it was powerful and I pretty much cried through the whole thing! Read about it here.
Happy 2007!! I think a good kick off to this new year is a new look to my blog! I am still not done, working out little annoyances and things.. but atleast it's in the works.
Well, Craig and I had a nice evening last night. We didn't do a whole lot, but we did cook a great dinner and play a pretty h-core game of scrabble. We even managed to stay up to watch the ball drop! Here's some pics from our wild and crazy new year's eve party. Also, Craig has updated his blog, with hopes of writing in it again, so check it out here.
