    4 My Canada

This sunday, we had a speaker at our church named Faytene Kryskow, who pioneered an organization called 'My Canada'. If you have any interest in Justice and Canada, you've got to check out their website. They hold huge rallies on Parlament Hill and pray with the country's leaders. They love Canada so much and have spent the last 10 years or so in places like the downtown east side of Vancouver, feeding and preaching to the homeless. Now they are working on pioneering a base in Ottawa (the capitol) because they feel God is bringing them in a direction of changing laws, praying for and with the politicians, and reaching Canada from the 'top' down.

It reminded me so much of some of the things YWAM Vancouver has been interested in the past. So check it out: www.4mycanada.ca you can watch videos and read articles and see what God is doing in Canada's government - because He is doing a lot!

Anyone interested in reading an article that The Globe and Mail wrote up on them, go here.

    Mr. Universe
Guys, Mariska's dad died last thursday... I'm so sad for her.

"Actress Mariska Hargitay lost her father on Thursday to multiple myeloma. Mickey Hargitay, the 1955 Mr. Universe, Mr. America, Mr. Olympia, and one-time husband of late sex symbol Jayne Mansfield died at the age of 80 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"Born Miklos Hargitay in Hungary, Mickey emigrated to the United States after World War II. Here he entered the world of bodybuilding and then landed a role in Mae West's Las Vegas Revue. Mansfield, who saw the show in 1956, married Hargitay in 1958 -- and the two later had daughter Mariska and two other children. Mansfield and Hargitay divorced in 1964 -- and Mansfield died in a car crash in 1967.

"Family members shared in a statement to the media, 'words cannot express how saddened we are by the loss of Mickey. At the same time, we are so grateful for who he was and is to all of us, and for the love he gave us in our lives. He will continue to be our source of inspiration and strength.' "

    under cover
    OH my gosh...
so who saw SVU tonight? I was wondering how they were going to write olivia out of the show.. for those of you who didn't see it but wanted to, i'll give you a quick recap.

So basically Olivia teams up with the FBI to try and find out which building this hippie-terrorist group is going to blow up. But then everything goes wrong and their informant who was helping them out turns on them. So now Olivia has decided to go under cover and infiltrate this hippie group. The episode ends with elliot trying to call Olivia's home phone because she's not at work, at it says the phone has been disconnected. Only the captain knows where she went but he wont tell any of them.

My guess is she will not reappear until atleast January as she is on her maternity leave right now. Next week we will meet Elliot's new partner, who will obviously not even compare to Olivia. This girl is soooooo temporary.....

Anyway, wow...what an episode. Comments anyone? (expect mike because i already know that you looooved it)

    War on Terror
I am interested to hear what people thought of ABC's The Path to 9/11. I am sure there are lots of oppinions from both sides. Craig and I stayed home to watch it both tonight and last night. I even taped it - might be an interesting keep sake for the future.

Anyway, I was pretty impressed with it. I admit I don't know which parts are true, and which are dramatised, but overall I was amazed at how much it implied that the US Government knew about Usama (i thought it was Osama??) Bin Laden and his gang. The movie was had a '24-ish' feel to me. (If only Jack Baur would've been there...he would've just ran in and gotten Bin Laden himself, without permission.

One thing that comes to my mind is that in hindsight, it's easy to make judgements, to point fingers. Even with things like the War in Iraq - I have such a hard time hearing people's arguments for why the US should pull out of Iraq. There is so much going on that we don't know about. It seems like people were mad at Clinton for being hesitant, yet people are mad at Bush for being confrontational.

All in all though, I was very impressed with the movie. Though to be honest, it probably has something to do with the fact that the director is 'family'. For those of you who don't know, the director of this movie, David Cunningham, is the son of Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I can't imagine how many YWAMers all over N.America were watching the movie these past 2 nights.

That's all for now. Feel free to leave oppinions.

    Goodbye Steve-O

Well I heard very sad news today. Steve Irwin, more commonly known as the Crocodile Hunter, was killed from being stung through the chest by a sting-ray.

Man that is so sad - I used to watch his show all the time. I actually liked it.

I feel i should post.. though I am not totally sure what to talk about. We went to church this morning...it was really nice. Both pastors welcomed us back and we got to catch up with a few people that are becomming more and more familiar. I really like that church... It's called Westpoint Christian Fellowship...good size, nice people.

After being away from Vancouver for the summer, it feels oddly 'different' this time around. It feels less safe, less homey. I'm hoping the feeling will pass. I start a new job on Tuesday. It's still with YWAM, but not what i was doing before. I will now be working with Donor Services. I am looking forward to the change of scenery and maybe something alittle less emotionally draining, as i have chosen to take this first year to focus on my marraige and getting used to life now, instead of career/school, stuff like that. That will come next year.. but for now, i just want to take it easy.

We got our computer fixed... that makes me happy. Oh yeah and i start back up at the crisis centre tonight, 8pm-12am. I hope i can remember how to do all that again! It's been a while!
    peace
