    sleep....
    Hey everyone,

just wanted to post a few pics i took from slam city jam this weekend. Man what a great time i had.. i am sad that it's over except for the fact that I am exhausted...

It was sweet to meet new people and watch awesome skating though...totally worth the 8am - 6pm shifts.

Tonight we had a goodbye party for a couple staff that are going away soon. Sad... but thats YWAM i guess. People always coming and going.. in fact we have a few new staff arriving this week!

I feel like i am totally in a daze from so much sugar and so little sleep....

    slam city jam
Hello all, you may have been wondering where I've been the past few days or why I havent posted. Well, I have been working at SLAM CITY JAM all weekend, which has ruled. It's the north american skateboarding championships and I am working in registration for the Media. It's a sweet job cause i get to sign in all the big-wig news and magazine people.

I've been working here pretty much 8am till late afternoon/evening all weekend and though I am wiped out, it's been totally worth it. It's just a volunteer position, so no pay, but it's okay cause i get to see rad skating and get some free stuff (like hats and shirts).

Anyway, other than that there's been no time for anything else to happen except a few birthday/going away parties. All in all, a pretty good weekend...looking forward to SLEEPING ALL DAY on monday... hopefully...

    equipped
Tonight was my last night of my 7 week training for the Vancouver Crisis Centre. It's been a really great experience and now I am supposedly 'fully equipped' to be on the lines myself, though I am sure the real learning comes as you go. This friday I am on a shift by myself and I am looking forward to jumping in there. Thanks everyone who's been praying for me and encouraging me to stick with it.

    sunsets and starbucks

Check out the view from my deck. This was the sunset tonight in my beautiful city.

Today was a nice sunday...relaxed in the morning, made a nice dinner for Craig and I and then went to an evening church service with some friends. To top off the evening, a decaf suger-free vanilla latte at starbucks paid for by my fiance.... good day all in all.

Well tomorrow it is back to work. This week I will be working on a new support letter, I have to raise funds for this next year in YWAM because it might be my last for a while and my support isn't doing the greatest. But God has continued to provide for me, and with a monthly salary of what most people make in a week, I am never lacking and have never missed a rent payment. Glory to Him for that one....

    mariska = emmy
Last night I think I saw what has become my favorite SVU episode, from season 6, called "Intoxicated". It was so intense! One of the best ones yet.

Well my days have been filled with searching for a wedding venue. It seems like each place we look at or call, there's one thing that doesn't work... like the place is perfect but not available on our date, or its available on our date but only in the evening.. or its availble, but not for outside, or its too expensive, etc, etc, etc..... it's wearing me out! So today I am taking a break from it... Craig has gone on a camping trip with the guys for a couple days so I will have lots of time to hunt again after today.

Make sure you join me Sunday, Sept. 20th, for the EMMY awards where Mariska Hargitay will win her well deserved award! See you there!

    on the hunt
    Hello all,
well it has been a busy past few days, venue hunting for a place to hold the wedding. Things are already booking up for next year so Craig and I have been park hopping these past few days. Today we looked at Capilano Park and it was neat cause after they showed us the places we could have the ceremony, we got to go around the park for free, and it is normally $25! It was neat, though alittle overrated i think... The suspension bridge was cool though.

My crisis centre training is almost over, I had my last Monitoring shift today, and start tomorrow with my 'Buddy' shift. I do this 4 times, where I take the calls by myself but have another volunteer there with me incase i need help. Then after that, and a completed 75 hours of training, I am ready and rearing to go!

All this talk of Harry Potter has really got me excited for the 4th movie to come out this november.. I can't wait! If you haven't read the 6th book yet, I am tellin ya.. you are truly missing out!!

    good times

Last night(wed) i stayed up really late hanging out with my brother on MSN. We had some good chats and then managed to laugh ourselves into oblivian for 2 hours looking at pictures from Engrish.com.

If you are not an Engrish.com regular, you MUST try it out. It is a collection of items or signs that people found in Asia or in other non-english speaking countries, where they have managed to just not quite get the english language down yet, and didn't seem to bother asking anyone to proof read it for them. I tell ya, after looking at them for an hour, I could hardly breath from laughing so much. Miss ya bro!

    We Made It!
Well everyone, the Mission Adventures Summer Program is finnished! Tonight was the last night, where we had a nice dinner with good food, music, and prayer. It was a nice end to a busy and productive summer I think. We just have some cleaning and debriefing to do, and then it's on to new fall things for YWAM Vancouver and myself.

Well, its been perfect weather here in Vancouver lately... hot with lots of sun. I think this weekend i will hit the beach. The crisis centre is going well, in one more month I will have completed the 75 hours of training needed to be a full volunteer for distress lines! What an experience that has been!

    Peanuts and Crackerjacks

    Hey everyone,
well last night was a blast, a few of us took Craig out for his 21st birthday! We went to the Vancouver Canadians Baseball game and it was a blast, even though we lost and our butts hurt from the bleachers.

All in all i think it was a pretty good day. Before that I took Craig out for dinner, where we had intended on going for sushi but ended up at a little etheopian restaurant instead, which was actually really really good. After the game, we went back to my place so Craig could play with his new toy he got from his family for his birthday, a personalized ipod mini with his name engraved on the back, how cool is that! Special day for a special guy!

    Waiting...
Tonight Craig and I went to the Vancouver Fireworks show... The actual show was great, but it was the transportation that killed the evening...

First, the show started at 10pm so we left my appartment at 7pm because it is quite far away and we had to take public transit. So we finally got down to the beach by like 8:20 or so..and waited for a while which wasn't so bad cause we had lots of snacks and stuff.. Then, the show was great, good music and quite well done..

And then we tried to get home...so the show ended at 10:25pm, and I am not kidding you when i tell you it took us 2 hours and 50 minutes to get home. I just walked in my door at 1:15 am! We just had to wait and wait and wait for busses and ended up walking for a half hour in order to try a different bus route since the road we were on, all the busses were full...and the beach on a normal day would only take maybe an hour to get to... maybe...

what a crazy night, don't think we'll do that again unless maybe we
have a car. It's just insane!! Here's a pic of Craig and I trying to entertain ourselves while we were waiting.

    same ol'
hi friends, sorry for my lack of blogging lately...it seems like my days to everyone would sound pretty routine, going to the crisis centre a couple times a week, and the rest of the time working in the Mission Adventure Program that is running. Some interesting news on that for you guys: we have 5 different youth groups here this week, from Cananda and the States. They just finnished their 4 day training, and now tomorrow 2 teams leave for Thailand, 1 team for Costa Rica, 1 for Vancouver Island, and the other will stay in Vancouver to do their outreach.

These kids are awesome and many lives have been touched this week by God. I believe it's a good program because it challenges kids to grow and gives them a safe place to practice stepping out of their comfort zone, as well as do some physical and practical work to help others. If you want to check out our Mission Adventures Website, click here.

During each session we have a time where a different YWAM staff member shares their own testimony, or something that God has done in their life. Last night was my turn to share, and I think it went pretty well, though i was quite nervous. I shared with them about how God has really shown me who I am in the past few years, and how for so long i tried so hard to get my identity and my worth from other people. It felt good to share about obstacles I have over come and only makes me more grateful to God for what he's done in my life.
